Nendo & Japanese Design

I really love japanese design, pure & simple, clean forms taken from the nature. The colors muted, mostly black and white.

Nendo is a 40 year old japanese designer that has a masters degree in architecture, but has mostly worked in the field of product and interior design.

For Milan 2011 he designed a collection of furniture called Transparent Collection.

I find it really prominent for japanese designers to work with transparency like Shiro Kuramata’s Miss Blance and Tokujin Yoshioka’s Waterfall Bench.

In 2008 Nendo designed the interior of a private house in Tokyo. Japanese treasure their moss just like we do here in Iceland and this house has veins of moss running through it. Interesting. He seems to be very productive, and the pictures below show a variety of his works. I always look forward to see what he comes up with next, very talented guy I think!

I wish I owned all those things…mmm

Tomorrow or the next day I’ll upload a few photos from my ceramics course, gonna snap some in class tomorrow. Im working with human bones – Scapulas…exciting!
