Marc Newson is an Australian born designer which is now based in London. He is extremely versatile and his work ranges from furniture to a commercial aircraft!

The Hourglass is one of his newest projects for a company called Ikepod. I just love hourglasses, I think I have since I was a little girl and my mum had one in the kitchen for timing eggs. They are just so simple; glass and sand, or in this case Borosilicate and millions of stainless steel nanoballs. It comes in four colours and two sizes – a 10 and 60 minute timer.

In 1988 he designed a Wood Chair for Cappellini. The shape of it looks amazing, organic and alive…I would really like to try sitting in it, I wonder if it’s comfortable?
