Graphic Design opening at Saltfelagid

Hello there, my name is Elín Bríta, a product design student at Listaháskóli Íslands. This is my new website/blog.

So…this evening I made my way to Grandagarður 2 to check out what graphic designers in Iceland had been upto for the last year. I came a bit late around 7ish, so I missed the opening bit…but it was still really busy when I arrived. I grabbed a beer and started looking around, but got distracted because I met some friends and started chatting away while sipping beer and munching on some potato chips. This seems to be the way it is on opening nights anyway, just too many people and hard to get some peace to look around.

Ferkanta by Matej Hlavacek is described as a massive poster typeface that could easily be used to build a house. This one caught my attention straight away, I couldn’t help touching it. That’s a good thing.

Packaging and graphics for records and cd’s by Guðbjörg Tómasdóttir, who is a graphic design student at Listaháskóli Íslands. It’s called “How it’s done in Italy”. I love this, I’m such a sucker for all things stripy…really takes you back.

I reccomend going to Grandagarður and checking this out, I might have to go again…

The students in 2nd year graphic design in Listaháskóli Íslands had some really interesting things for sale that I didn’t get a chance to look at because of all the people…I gotta go back there. Buy some nice gifts for future birthday parties.
